The more pigmented something is, the more likely it will be to stain your carpet, and a lighter carpet will be easier to stain. Or at least you can see the stains better with a lighter coloured carpet. You may have tried other ways of getting stains out of carpet without them working very well, but this cleaning trick should work well with any stain on any color of carpet. As they show in the video on the Buzz Feed website, you can have a spaghetti stain or a red wine stain and this trick works great each time. So don't worry about the dreaded red wine or tomato sauce stains everyone is so afraid of, because when you have this cleaning tip, you'll be prepared.

The other great thing about this carpet cleaning tip is that you'll be using all natural ingredients. There are many chemical carpet cleaners out there, ones which you may have tried already at some point or another. But if you're like most people these days, you're probably trying to eliminate or reduce the chemical cleaning solutions in your home to switch over to natural cleaners. If you haven't made the switch yet, you can start out by buying some of the main ingredients you'll be using in most natural cleaners. You may even have some of these items at home already too which would be great. One of the most commonly used natural cleaners is white distilled vinegar which is great for breaking down tough stains and disinfecting. It also has good deodorizing properties as well and can remove some of the strongest scents. The other popular natural cleaning ingredient is baking soda which is also a great disinfectant and deodorizer but it's also a good gentle abrasive cleaneser too. Then there's rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, citric acid, lemon juice, salt, and dish soap. If you're using dish soap try to use a natural one if possible.

For this carpet cleaning solution you're going to mix 2 parts water with 2 parts white vinegar, then add in 1 part dish soap. You'll also need some paper towels or reusable rags if you want to be more environmentally friendly. Mix all of the ingredients into a bowl and stir. Then clean up the spill on the carpet by picking up the pasta or placing a cloth over the drink spill to soak up as much of the liquid as possible. Always blot the stain, never rub it because the pigments could get stuck in the fibres of the carpet. Once you've picked up the majority of the spill, there will still be a stain left behind so just blot the stain with some of the carpet cleaning solution on it. Dip the cloth in the solution and then blot the stain until it picks up the stain. When the stain is gone, you can breathe a sigh of relief and then pour some plain water over the spot you've been blotting to rinse the solution out, and then blot the area with a clean cloth to soak up the moisture. Then just leave your carpet to dry and it should look like nothing ever happened.***
