Mashed potatoes are always a welcome sight at the dinner table. Try our rich and creamy mashed potatoes with cream cheese. Of all the easy dinner ideas, none is quite as comforting as a pile of mashed potatoes with some melted butter, served alongside of some vegetables and perhaps some roast chicken. Also, it seems like every holiday dinner includes potatoes recipes, especially mashed potatoes. Of course, there are so many different ways to cook potatoes; you can grill them, fry them and roast them as well. Potatoes are also a great affordable vegetable to add to any meal, and they will be sure to fill you up too. Usually, people will put milk and butter in their mashed potatoes, and maybe some sour cream, but this mashed potatoes recipe also includes some rich, cream cheese to make them even more irresistible than they already are. Enjoy this classic recipe with a creamy addition the next time you make potatoes for dinner.
Makes 8 servings

5 lbs. potatoes
3 Tablespoons butter
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/4 cup milk (more or less or enough milk to make consistency desired)
Peel, wash and quarter the potatoes.
Put the potatoes into a large pot and put enough water just to cover them. Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt cover with a lid. Bring water to a boil, turn down to slow boil and cook for about 20 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
Preheat the oven to 350F.
Drain water and return potatoes to the pot.
Mash the potatoes until there are not lumps.
Use an electric mixer to beat in the butter,cream cheese, onion powder, salt, garlic powder and pepper.
Add just enough milk to make the potatoes the desired creamy consistency. Add only a small amount at a time.
Taste, and adjust seasonings to taste.
Place and potato mixture into an oven proof dish, cover with aluminum foil and place into the preheated oven for about 30 minutes or until they are heated through.
